THE WAR SCHOLAR

WAR OF 1812 WORD SEARCH PUZZLE #1

DIRECTIONS:

(1)  Answer the following trivia questions.  The number of letters in the answer (excluding spaces) is given in parentheses at the end of the question.

(2) Find the answers in the letter grid below.  The answers will be found horizontally, vertically, diagonally, forward and back.  In addition, the answers snake around, meaning they make ninety degree turns at different points in the answer.  Also, the answers in the grid can overlap each other. However, vertical or horizontal answers will only snake vertically or horizontally.  Diagonal clues will only snake diagonally.

Example: If two separate answers are Washington and Cornwallis, possible clue configurations are as follows:

Note that Washington only snakes vertically and horizontally and Cornwallis only snakes diagonally.

(3) When you cross out all the answers in the grid, you will be left with two clues to another puzzle.  The clues can be found in two ways.  First, read all the uncrossed out letters.  The first clue reads left to right, top to bottom.  The second clue reads right to left, bottom to top.  The ends of the two clues meet somewhere in the middle.
